La Puerta de Fe

Since 2000 CLC has sponsored a child at the La Puerta de Fe (Door of Faith) orphanage near the town of La Mision, Mexico, about an hour south of Tijuana. La Puerta de Fe (The Door of Faith) provides a home for about 100 underprivledged Mexican children, either orphans or those whose families are unable to care for them. Beginning in 2000 CLC sponsored a 9 year old boy named Tono. Tono was reunited with his family in the summer of 2002; we wish Tono the best. In the fall of 2002 CLC began sponsorship of Jonathan, who's 11 years old.

Every spring, CLC families are invited to join local community volunteers in a non-school sponsored overnight trip to La Puerta de Fe. Our group takes supplies and enough food to cook and serve two complete meals for the children who live there, as well as extra food for the pantry, gently used sports equipment, and other donations. A campground at the site allows for a central place for families to stay, build a campfire, talk, and sing together.

On April 19th, 2008 CLC held a car wash and bake sale to benefit the Puerta de Fe orphanage. The event was a great success, raising over $3,000 for the orphanage. Here are some photos from the event:
